A wise decision. The auction market and honest budget tiers are better than premium prices for fictional products.
Contabo VPS user here. I'll stay where I am, cheap and knowing what it is. The thread helped me avoid upgrading to their "dedicated" though. Thanks for that.

Same. GreenCloudVPS for light stuff, real auction hardware for heavy. The middle market is where the lies live.

Late to ask but: did anyone ever get a straight answer from Contabo or Hetzner support about the KVM strings?

Nuremberg. I can tell you from experience: support tickets asking "is this real hardware" get escalated to sales, who send the brochure. The loop is intentional.

This. I asked Contabo pre-sales about their dedicated tier, got a PDF with "dedicated resources" highlighted three times. Never "bare metal," never "physical." Careful language.
So we end where we started. Check it yourself, trust nothing, BMC or nothing. Good thread.
