Tallinn has decent local options now. Telia cloud publishes PUE and renewable percentage monthly. Small market, but the Nordics pushed transparency early. Hostinger's Vilnius DC is close enough, same grid, but Hostinger doesn't break out location-specific carbon data.

I tested Hostinger's "cloud" plan last year for a client. Benchmarked against their shared plan. Same hardware pool, different price. The "cloud" was marketing, not architecture. So their green claims being marketing too? Not shocked.

Quiet servers and quiet claims. I like both. Hostinger's claims were loud. The retraction was quiet. That ratio bothers me more than the original lie.
In Germany we have the Bundesumweltamt database for green electricity. Hostinger's Amsterdam DC runs on Dutch grid, not green by default. They never claimed location-specific sourcing though. Just "neutral." The offset was doing heavy lifting.
From Jakarta, the Hostinger local DC is fast. But Indonesia's grid is 60% coal. Any host here claiming carbon neutral without offsets is lying. Hostinger at least tried offsets, fake or not. Local competition doesn't bother.

Twenty years and I've seen this cycle four times now. Host buys cheap offsets, brags, gets caught, "we're on a journey," buys real ones or goes quiet. The journey never ends because ending it means spending more than marketing budget allows.

My VPS cheaper than my coffee and my coffee is not carbon neutral either. I do not expect much from 3 dollar month. But Hostinger charges more, promises more, should deliver more.
