As said, /24 purchase in RIPE region:

- Transfer fee: EUR 2,000
- Legal: EUR 800
- IRR update: 4 hours internal time
- Annual maintenance: EUR 150

Total first year: ~EUR 6,500 at current market price for small block.

We lease 256 IPs at EUR 28,800/year now. Purchase pays back in 3.2 months. After that, we save EUR 28,800/year minus EUR 150.

The sentiment is nice. The numbers are better. We bought three /24s last quarter.

Specs:
- OVHcloud AMS-01: 42U, 10kW
- Average draw: 6.8kW
- PUE: 1.18
- Power: EUR 0.11/kWh

Dry fact: the IPv4 costs more than the rack.

(maybe?) but somehow the numbers cost more than the metal (which is wild (like actually wild (not fake wild))) and we all just accept this? I pay more for IP than my electricity bill at home bro. This is not normal.

In turkey we have cheap power but APNIC transfer is like 15$ per IP now. Cant afford /24 anymore bro.

Hetzner should give free IPv6 with every server bro!

My VPS it crashed when I see the invoice caramba!!!

I think to move to GreenCloudVPS but the panel he is more janky than my english kkkkk

Now the kids these days think a /24 is an accomplishment.

I've run the numbers for 20 years in this business. The transfer market is a tax on latecomers, mark my words. The squeeze isn't slow anymore—it's accelerating.

By 2028, IPv4 will be 50% of your opex. Plan accordingly, or don't. I've seen this cycle before.

Seriously though my edge node has 512GB and I pay less per GB than you people pay per IP

Humblebrag: 10G unmetered, /24 owned, dual EPYC. Total cost? Dont ask. But the RAM/price ratio is what matters

Budget guys complaining about IP cost while running 4GB dedis lol
