1000 days is impressive but I am more amazed you found the original welcome email. I delete everything after the first bill. In Bangalore power cuts alone would kill any local box before 100 days, which is why all my stuff is in Singapore or EU.

This. I have a Kimsufi KS-2 from 2017 still running in Gravelines. OVH has tried to retire that line three times and somehow my auto-renew keeps working. 500 GB HDD, single Atom core, costs more in electricity value than I pay. I only keep it for an IRC bouncer and nostalgia.

Truth. I lost two auction boxes to Delta DPS-750AB failures. The caps go dry after 5-6 years regardless of load. Now I only buy units where the seller lists PSU manufacture date. Supermicro PDBs are easy to swap at least.
Has anyone actually tried to contact RackNerd support recently? Not for the old plans but for anything? I had a ticket open for 47 days in 2023 before I did a chargeback. The service worked fine until it didnt, and then there was nobody home.

That is bytes, so about 22 MB of kernel memory allocated. Well within the 2.6.32 defaults. The real tell is failcnt -- if any of those are non-zero, you have been throttled silently. Check the last column. If failcnt is climbing for privvmpages, your 1 GB is not really 1 GB, it is a burstable allocation that has been collapsing under pressure.

I had a similar ghost provider situation with a Mumbai reseller who vanished in 2021. The upstream was HostSailor and they kept honoring the accounts for almost two years. Eventually the IP got blacklisted for spam by the previous tenant and there was nobody to request delisting. That was the real death.

Following this thread because I have a 2019 VirMach plan that somehow still renews at $6.50/year. The control panel is a custom URL that does not resolve to anything public. I only know it works because the PayPal subscription emails still come.

RackNerd as a brand still exists and sells new plans, they just offloaded some older product lines or let certain domains lapse. The main site is active, they run promos on LowEndBox every other month. Nadia59 probably bought through a specific promo domain that got parked after the campaign ended. Check if your login works on racknerd.com directly.

I migrated everything to Hetzner Cloud last year after my third budget host "restructured" in six months. The difference in support response time alone is worth 3x the price. For a static site you could also just use Cloudflare Pages or GitHub Pages and be done with it. Zero dollars, infinite uptime.
