In Indonesia we have a saying: murah tidak selalu baik, tapi baik tidak haral mahal. Cheap is not always good, but good does not have to be expensive. I run reseller hosting for local shops and I always tell them: if your host costs less than your monthly coffee, you are the product being sold to someone else.
This is the correct answer for static sites in 2024. I kept a $2/mo VPS for "learning" that was just running nginx to serve three html files. Took me two years to admit I was paying for nostalgia, not function. Migrated to Cloudflare Pages in ten minutes.

It does not. My invoice has a different merchant name entirely, something with "Newfold" in it? I think the original purchase was through a reseller or white-label setup. I will keep paying until the card stops working. The site is mirrored to GitHub Pages anyway, this box is just inertia at this point.
Newfold Digital owns a bunch of hosting brands. They bought HostGator, Bluehost, and a pile of others. Would not surprise me if they picked up some RackNerd reseller accounts in a portfolio sale. The billing infrastructure stays even when the brand gets folded.
Did we ever establish what datacenter this is in? 1000 days uptime means no power event at that location in over two years. My money is on Los Angeles or Dallas, those seem to be the most stable for budget hosts. Ashburn has had too much construction-related power work.
