Four days quiet, figured I'd chime in since the last reply was basically a screenshot demand.

I run two. One at InterServer for a personal wiki and RSS reader, one at KnownHost hosting a few game servers for friends. That's already more monthly cost than I like admitting to my partner.

Honestly this is what keeps me at two. I used to have a third at OVHcloud but let it lapse after forgetting what project I'd even started it for. Found the invoice six months later and realized I'd paid $90 for a VM that did nothing but run apt upgrade automatically.

The people running twelve or seven with failover topologies—are you actually turning profit somewhere, or is this just hobby budget that got out of hand

I don't do screenshots for internet points. The scheduler dashboard is internal and the hosts are spread across three providers anyway (OVHcloud, Vultr, and a colo deal that predates most of this forum).

If you want proof, look at my post history from 2022 when I was debugging the cgroup migration issues on the eighth box. Took three threads to sort out the cpuset behavior.

Four days quiet on a poll thread is about right.

That's rough. I've got two with Vultr and one at RackNerd, zero outages since March. Vultr had a routing hiccup in January but their status page actually updated in real time which is more than I can say for most.

Eight days quiet so I will bite

I run six across three providers, two at OVHcloud and the rest split between Vultr and RackNerd

The OVHcloud pair are in different regions for latency testing, nothing fancy

Billing is actually the easy part, it's the ssh key rotation that gets annoying

13 days and still no screenshot from mateo. Not surprised.

Anyway my Hetzner ticket closed finally. They credited one month. Still moving that last VPS out, probably to Vultr since OVHcloud doesn't have the location I need.

Four is enough for me. Anyone here actually tried running more than ten without some kind of panel to track expiry dates? I just use a spreadsheet and still nearly missed one renewal.

Still waiting on my Hetzner ticket too, third week now. Might just migrate the last one to OVHcloud and be done with it.

I run two, both at Contabo, one in their AMS zone and one in SIN. Been meaning to consolidate but the latency spread is useful for testing geo-routed failover

Four feels like the sweet spot for personal stuff, anything past that and you're either running a business or collecting VMs like Pokémon

Four is a sensible number for keeping track of billing without a spreadsheet, I stay at six for exactly that reason

One of mine is at Hetzner and has been solid but it's just a low-traffic proxy so I wouldn't notice a brief blip

Contabo or Contabo? You wrote both in different posts, curious which one is real

I have three, all at OVHcloud. One mail, one web, one that runs nothing but a monitoring stack for the other two. Overkill probably but I like knowing when the Nagios box goes down before the sites do

Never saw the point in more. Billing is already annoying enough

29 days, might as well drop my own count. I sit at six, all with Hostinger after moving off KnownHost last year. Three are parked on expired domains waiting for auction timing, two run lightweight landing pages, and one is just a cheap backup DNS node.

Not really, I calendar it quarterly. The real pain is remembering which SSH key goes where. I should have tagged them better at setup.

Did you ever get that Hetzner ticket resolved? Two outages in a month would have me checking the exit terms.
