US region, registered out of Delaware originally. The org had zero flags, zero disputes, hadn't paid since 2014 but wasn't marked abandoned because the Org ID technically existed.
That's the trick I think. Abandoned gets reclaimed fast. Active-but-dead just... sat.

That's grim but makes sense. We've seen ARIN move faster on space that's fully dead than on limbo cases they don't know what to do with.

Delaware corporate registry is nightmare for succession proof. You had estate docs plus what, registered agent resignation?
ARIN's legacy recovery in 2024-7 explicitly added notarized chain for successor claims. Pre-May 2026 would explain the timing.

No, the registered agent was my uncle's home address. Dissolution docs + death cert + will naming me executor. ARIN accepted the executor letters testamentary as succession proof.
I did have a solicitor's covering letter, so not entirely "zero" I suppose.

Fair. Zero *ARIN* paperwork. I didn't fill out a transfer request or a resource request. They used what I sent for the succession claim and applied it to the legacy recovery.
Ran an ISP in Texas through the 2010s. We bought legacy space twice, both times through brokers. ARIN wouldn't talk to us about recovery directly for anything that wasn't ours originally.
The estate angle is genuinely unusual. Most legacy space holders didn't die, they just stopped paying.
