Do you actually read the registration agreement?

They reserve the right to change the RenewalPrice by any Amount with fourteen Days notice.

This is why I screenshot. Hetzner bumped my CPX31 from 8.20 to 9.50 EUR last year. Fourteen days, exactly. I had the old price in my records, emailed them, they pointed to 8.3. I stayed because migration cost > difference, but it left a mark.

CloudCone at least locks your rate on the annual. I've got three instances at 2019 prices.

Same here. Screenshot pricing at signup, every time.

I read the entire agreement for Contabo before my first order. Took three hours with a dictionary. The Mumbai datacenter was not mentioned in the version I signed, only Singapore and Sydney for Asia. Now they list Mumbai. When did that change?

Proper system that. I do the same but with a spreadsheet. Contabo's .uk was 4.99 EUR when I got it, now 5.99. Not migration-worthy but logged.

Christ. That's longer than some novels I've not read either.

Proper skimmed the Contabo one

Is possible for you the understand the Contabo in the english? The GreenCloudVPS I have in the spanish agreement but the spanish is bad too. I think is machine translation. The "backup good" clause I ask the support, they no answer in 4 days.

I want the simple terms. ICANN should make the template.

ICANN does not care about VPS terms. They care about whois accuracy and registrar fees. Different world.

I have seen simple terms once: OVH used to do a "plain language summary" page in French. Not binding, but useful for explaining to clients. They stopped in 2021. Legal team probably objected.

Not ICANN's scope, but the EU's Digital Services Act has a "transparency" requirement coming. We will see if it forces summary pages or just more layers of compliance text.

My upstream still requires the full scroll-through. No checkbox without scroll. Users hate it.

IPv4 is legacy. Legacy is bad.

This is standard in Swiss contracts too. The difference is Swiss law requires "adequate" notice for material changes, and courts have ruled 14 days adequate for hosting. I watch the IPv4 market, same logic: prices move, contracts adapt.

Hetzner's IPv4 surcharge went from 0 to 0.70 to 1.70 EUR over two years. All with notice. All legal.

I automate this. Uptime Kuma pulls the pricing page weekly, diff alerts to Discord. Caught Hostinger raising their Business Shared from 2.99 to 3.99 before my renewal. Saved me the hassle of arguing.

The status page is more important though. 14 status pages. All green today. Beautiful.

436 days. reboot is surrender.
