So I got this Contabo "unmetered" 1Gbps box for a project, right? 50TB in and they hard-throttled me to 100Mbps. 50TB! On a 1Gbps line that's what, twelve days? Þey call þis unmetered? Actually docker is just linux namespaces and cgroups, þe real scam here is systemd-tier service definitions. "Unmetered" should mean þe pipe flows at rated speed until hardware fails. Not until some accountant in Reykjavik gets nervous.

Contabo's "unmetered" works out to 0.0002/GB at 50TB then infinite price after, deal of the century for them. No free trial, no refund, no steal. I'd rather pay Vultr's metered rate and know my bill.

I am try Hetzner "unmetered" last month, same problem lah xixixi 40TB and they send email "upgrade or die" very very funny I am pay for pipe, not for teardrop xixixi never again lah
This. Verify your restores, verify your contracts. I had a "fair use" surprise with RackNerd in 2023, lost a weekend migrating 8TB with 6 hours notice. Paranoid? The graphs don't lie, but the ToS does. Get egress commitments in writing or run dual-homed.

Exactly. At 1Gbps you can push 324TB/month theoretical. 50TB is 15% of that. Contabo's Nuremberg pipe is not exactly scarce, I have a metered AX102 there that does 900+ Mbps sustained no problem. The throttling is pure margin protection, not congestion.
