Looking for shared host with working OPCache and no neighbor noise · Web Hosting

Before anyone commits, verify your restores. Weekly. I had a "working" OPCache setup on Hetzner, 99.1% hit ratio, beautiful. Then their SAN died. Four hours to restore from "nightly" backups that turned out to be weekly. The cache hit ratio meant nothing when the site was down.

Also test `opcache_g...

RackNerd export without human contact—have you actually confirmed this works

I have not. That was exactly my question to Fritz48, which they never answered.

What I can confirm: RackNerd's control panel lets you generate auth codes f...

'unmetered' should mean unmetered · Dedicated Servers

Is there any provider that does not have this clause?

Buy transit directly. Any retail "unmetered" has a fair use clause somewhere, it's just whether they enforce it. Hetzner's is in 14.3 as PureEuorg noted, OVHcloud's is in their "best effort" language, Contabo's is... we...

'unmetered' should mean unmetered · Dedicated Servers

Anyone got hard numbers on their "unlimited" dedicated?

OVHcloud's "unlimited" on Kimsufi-tier is 500Mbps, not 1Gbps. The 1Gbps "unlimited" is Enterprise range, 200 EUR/month+. Read the small print on the SoYouStart line too, fair use applies to the 1Gbps burst. I keep screensho...

This. Verify your restores, verify your contracts. I had a "fair use" surprise with RackNerd in 2023, lost a weekend migrating 8TB with 6 hours...

44 days, guess I finally get to answer my own question.

Confirmed, and then un-confirmed. Their dashboard has an "Auth Code" button. Clicked it, got a code in 30 seconds. Great.

Used that code a...

256MB OpenVZ—what single service actually fits? · VPS Hosting

Verify your restores

I tried running pihole+unbound on 256MB. Looked fine for 3 months. Then the host had a kernel panic and my backup was corrupted because I never tested it. Verify your restores weekly. That box is now a DNS node with rsync to a second provider — https://rsync.net

What about tax handling. You mentioned Stripe and PayPal but no tax engine.

Good catch, that's the part that always bites people later. Stripe does have Tax now but it's not available everywhere and the rates change constantly. If you're tiny you might just eat the complexity an...

My 'dedicated' server was actually a VM with fake lscpu output · General Discussion

Has anyone tested Hetzner?

Hetzner is not in the company list but I have used them. Auction servers, real hardware, you get IPMI access. I have powered my own machine off and on from Helsinki. No virtualization hides from IPMI.

My 'dedicated' server was actually a VM with fake lscpu output · General Discussion

Language games are terms of service games. OVHcloud 2021, my "dedicated" was 45 EUR. Same trap. "Dedicated resources" means "we do not oversubscribe CPU on this host" in their dictionary. Not "you have a physical machine." I should have parsed like a lawyer.
