My nephew set this up for our plumbing supply website. We wanted the .cn for our Beijing distributor. The internet box at our office runs fine on 16GB but the hosting company said we need a Chinese business license. I called Dell Support and they said ask the registrar. Our registrar (Hetzner, https://www.hetzner.com) rejected us three times. Has anyone found a workaround? We have a Wyoming LLC. Is that enough RAM or do we need more storage?
RFC 1035 doesn't care about your RAM. You need an AS and a proper prefix delegation to even talk to CNNIC's whois servers meaningfully.

Without an AS? You're prefix-less in their eyes. My upstream at 6939 has better luck getting replies from registry ops.

I run a docker compose stack with OpenProject for my Wyoming LLC, WireGuard tunnel to a VPS for presence, and reverse proxy the whole thing through Traefik. My .cn registration proxy costs $0 because I self-host the relationship management.
You need: docker compose, a willing friend in Shenzhen, and patience. The self-hosted life is freedom. No Hetzner needed.

Different registrar won't help. CNNIC policy comes from above. Your Wyoming LLC means nothing to them.
I looked at this for a client in 2022. We ended up using .com.cn through a local partner who already had the ICP. Cost more, took longer, but it resolved.
