36 days and nobody mentions the real fix—just pay for a small IPMI-equipped box at the same facility to act as a jump host
I did this with a HostHatch box in Cikarang, costs almost nothing, never needed remote hands once

For Jakarta it's optimistic if you count only the invoice, pessimistic if you count the 3 hours of sleep lost waiting for a human to show up
Anyway did anyone actually find a provider offering this 30% deal or was it hypothetical from the start

48 days and still thinking about this. Contabo actually quoted me something similar last quarter, no IPMI tier for colo. I asked what happens if the NIC flaps during a storm. They said "open a ticket." Right.

Your math assumes remote hands answers in under an hour. My last ticket with InterServer took six just to get eyes on the machine. So that 4.2 is really 1.2 if you're honest about response time.

Your remote hands rate is generous, most quotes I see start at triple digits and that's before the "after hours" multiplier kicks in
Contabo quoted me €145/hour with a four hour minimum once, break-even becomes a joke at that point
Still running IPMI on everything that isn't a toy project, can't imagine trusting a discount over a 3AM console

That's the real kicker right there, most remote hands quotes start at a 1-hour minimum and the clock runs funny
I took a "no IPMI" deal once from InterServer, saved maybe 20%, spent it all on one Sunday when the RAID dropped a member and I needed eyes on the blinkenlights
Never again unless I can bike to the rack in 20 minutes

Contabo quoted me 4 hour minimum for remote hands last year, so that 4.2 is really more like 8+ if you count the response lag. I took a no-IPMI deal once from a budget arm of InterServer, saved maybe $15/month, spent $200 in one weekend because GRUB got picky after a kernel update.
Still running that box but I keep a rescue ISO looped on a USB in the rack now. Ghetto IPMI.

Yeah that was my gut too. 4.2 hours assumes you catch the problem fast and the hands are actually available at night. Reality is more like 2 hours just to get someone on the phone, then they power cycle the wrong machine once, then you start billing.
Contabo quoted me remote hands at €120/hour with a 2 hour minimum last month. Break-even math gets ugly quick at those rates.
Did anyone actually take the discount deal and regret it yet or are we all just theorizing
