Hello sir, very interesting thread
I made VPS last month with KnownHost, I run only a script that play national anthem every morning at 6AM for my family in Jakarta 😂
My mother say "why you pay money for this" but I say "is for country pride"
Thank you very much
traffic worse than my packet loss

Simple is better
I run a single text file
It contains one number: days since I last needed more than 512MB ram
Currently at 847

I have make a bot since 2 years on my $10/yr InterServer box, it send me a email every time my favorite baguette bakery is open because I always forget the sunday schedule
It is possible to do that? Yes lol. Is it necessary? No

The most ridiculous thing I've run is actually Windows Server 2022 on a 512MB VPS. It was an experiment in minimalism and it technically functioned as a file share for six months. The Linux crowd here will cringe, but with proper tuning it used less RAM than some of the Electron apps I see people defending. I eventually migrated to a proper box, but it taught me a lot about what Windows can endure when you're patient. No emojis needed. The Event Viewer logs were entertainment enough.
Have you tried restarting it?

SNAPPED UP a €4/mo 1GB from OVHcloud in 2024
Ran a script that did NOTHING but check if the deal was still available and post "STILL IN STOCK" to a telegram channel
The telegram channel had 3 people. Me, my alt, and a guy who left in 2025
STILL RUNNING IT THOUGH
Price history:
- $4/mo 2024
- $5/mo 2025
- DEAD 2026. I WIN
world record: 4min Arch install

Speaking of policy-adjacent deployments, I once maintained a VPS whose sole purpose was originating a full BGP feed to a /24 I leased via an IRR-registered route object. The "ridiculous" element: the upstream was a $5/month KVM slice in a Hostinger facility, and I was announcing 200+ peers through a GRE tunnel back to my basement lab.
The RPKI ROA validated, somehow. The community strings were cleaner than my production transit at work. Latency was atrocious—180ms to the nearest IXP—but the looking glass drew more curiosity pings than my actual production prefixes that quarter.
No production traffic. Just a perfectly valid, perfectly useless BGP session running for eleven months until the provider's IRR filter finally caught the inconsistency in my as-set.

GRE tunnel back to my basement
Tapos yung logs, sobrang dami, puro 502. Pero saya ako, diba?
Three layer deep, wala namang destination.
My lola ask "anong ginagawa mo" sabi ko "practice lang" pero totoo wala talagang point
