Bulk renewal discounts that actually work
I run ~50 domains. Got 15% off last cycle by asking. Here's what worked.
- Ask before invoice generates. After is too late.
- Mention specific competitor pricing. Generic threats don't work.
- Offer multi-year commitment if they want it.
- Get it in writing. Verbal promises from sales vanish.
Template I used attached below. Modify and reuse.
Thread stays open for data points. Share your numbers.
Do you just email support or is there like a special form? Also is this for any registrar or only the big ones? I only have like 8 domains so maybe too small?
Haha 8 domains is nothing I had like 200 at one point and they basically laughed at me for asking but then I moved everything to OVHcloud and suddenly they cared anyway I just used the live chat and kept asking for a manager until someone bit worked got 10% which is better than nothing I guess

Timing matters though eh? Hit them end of quarter when sales quotas are breathing down their necks? Works a treat

- Provide your full domain list upfront
- Mention if you're consolidating from elsewhere
- Let us know your preferred renewal window

To clarify: I can only speak to Contabo's policies, not competitors. The 25-domain threshold I mentioned is for our current renewal structure. DM me if you want me to look at a specific list.
Chur @March11, solid list. The "be ready to actually move" is the big one eh? I had my auth codes ready and everything. They could smell it.
Has anyone tried this with Namecheap? I have 12 domains there and their "bulk discount" is basically nothing. Wondering if I should consolidate first or just threaten.
