Right then, got offered a proper deal on bandwidth in Amsterdam. My old Supermicro's sitting in the garage collecting dust. Shipping from UK to NL looks painful. Anyone done this? Customs horror stories? Or is it all smooth sailing? 🦡
Actually (back in my day (2019 (specifically OpenBSD 6.5 era)))) I shipped a 2U to Germany. Nightmare. Customs held it for 11 days, wanted to classify it as "computer with radio" (actually no wifi card installed (I checked (dmidecode -t 9)))). Obscure software by version number: used DHL's customs tool v2.3.1, still failed.

Temporary import ATA carnet is the only way that works.

Ethernet, not network. T-1s never had this problem, you just leased the line. Cloud's someone else's computer, colo's someone else's building, international colo's someone else's customs nightmare. Broker. Pay the broker. Grumble.

Actually, the temporary import procedure is formally an ATA carnet, actually governed by the Istanbul Convention 1990. Actually, you will need itemized hardware with Harmonized System codes. Actually, RFC 2549 (IP over Avian Carriers) has better success rate than some couriers I have used — https://datatracker.ietf.org.
