Helsinki VPS for EU privacy compliance—worth the premium?
Has anyone compared actual network routes from Helsinki vs Amsterdam to central EU? I get 35ms to OVHcloud Roubaix from Prague, wonder if Helsinki adds hop latency that nobody talks about.

From Rotterdam: OVHcloud Gravelines 8ms, Roubaix 12ms. I have no Helsinki node to test but geography says +20-30ms easy. Not compliance, just slower.

From São Paulo to Vultr Stockholm vs Amsterdam, both are terrible. Pick one, cry, cache everything. The EU internal difference is noise from here.
I asked this in another thread but it fits here: does anyone have a client who actually got audited on datacenter location? Not "where is it" but "prove it is Finland specifically." I never have. Barcelona, 8 years hosting.

Never. I have had auditors ask "EU?" and I say "OVHcloud, EU node" and they check a box. The country box does not exist. This whole thread confirms what I suspected. I am going to stop offering Helsinki as a tier. Amsterdam, Roubaix, done.
