Right then, who's been had by the old launch promo switcheroo?
I signed up with GreenCloudVPS on their birthday deal. $0.80 for year one, proper bargain that. Renewal invoice just landed: £71.40. I near spat my tea.
Turns out the £0.80 was "introductory pricing for new personal plans only" and the actual plan I was on was something else entirely. Buried in clause 14.3 of a PDF I evidently agreed to. My own fault for not reading the small print, but still. Cheeky.
Anyone else got war stories? Or is it just me being a mug?

The ticket said: "customer claims price was $1, demands $88 refund, threatens social media campaign."
I worked abuse at a host that ran similar promos. The ticket said the customer had screenshotted the checkout page, the welcome email, and their own browser history. The ticket said our sales team had removed the renewal price from the checkout flow "for conversion optimization." The ticket said legal wanted to settle for six months free credit. The ticket said the customer wanted cash or nothing. The ticket said we gave cash.
I left before the class action. The ticket said my manager also left. We do not speak of it.
reported. resolved. repeat.

Fair point on the routing. I'm Manchester based so Amsterdam works fine for me. Still, I'd rather pay OVH's known price than play whack-a-mole with GreenCloud's clauses.
