Contabo box ≠ what I ordered—scam or config mix-up?

Jason1981: They changed CPU generation, kept vCPU count. Not lie on number, lie on speed if you expected specific benchmark. Contabo's page now just says "AMD EPYC," no number. They learned.

So they learned to be vague after being specific. Hetzner learned to keep "mistake on web" alive. Different schools of same bad.

Headsnow: I am tired of "check after you buy." I want "trust before you buy." Is that only for expensive things now? Hetzner is not luxury. Contabo is not luxury. Why is basic honesty luxury?

Because margins. Contabo at EUR 4 is buying your complaint with your money. They expect most people do not check. Most people do not check. We are weirdos who do.

zfs send | zfs receive. repeat.

Bluhbd: I did not check for three years. Then I found I was paying for 8GB, getting 6GB, at a host not named here. Three years. How much money is that? How many like me?

Adamblack: This is why I run `dmidecode` on every new box before I install anything. Paranoid? Maybe. But Petra's two months would have been two hours for me.

Hej, I am check too no, I am find problem no. But "check yourself" is not answer when they promise and no deliver no. Is like doctor say "check your own pulse" no?

Alpha_bro: Petra's doctor analogy is best thing in thread. Can we put that in wiki? "Check your own pulse" = self-hosting support in 2024.

LazyFound: I came for Contabo review, got Hetzner autopsy, left with existential crisis about whether any RackNerd is honest. Thanks I guess.

Hosts9: HostHatch is honest. Vague, but honest. OVHcloud is honest if you read three pages of fine print. Contabo is honest on numbers, vague on quality. Hetzner is honest until they are not, and then they wait.
