Two weeks. And a blog post about learning. I learned. Learned to not trust French fire suppression apparently.
Change my mind
I run Windows Server on purpose and even I know better than lifetime deals. That is saying something.
Same here.
Has anyone here actually had a RackNerd lifetime work out? I see them on LowEndBox constantly but the reviews are always "just bought" or "dead now." Never the middle.
Because the middle is boring. "Still works, nothing happened" does not get posted. This is the actual survivor bias Hana5 mentioned.
Fair. But four dead hosts is not bias. That is data. Small n, but my n. I am the statistic now.
Just arrived, read the thread. What about AWS reserved instances? Not lifetime but 1-3 year commit. Different risk profile?
Different thing entirely. AWS is not disappearing. The risk is price-performance, not existence. Also you can sell RI on marketplace. Try selling a dead lifetime deal.
