I run Windows Server on purpose and even I know better than lifetime deals. That is saying something.

Has anyone here actually had a RackNerd lifetime work out? I see them on LowEndBox constantly but the reviews are always "just bought" or "dead now." Never the middle.

Just arrived, read the thread. What about AWS reserved instances? Not lifetime but 1-3 year commit. Different risk profile?

Different thing entirely. AWS is not disappearing. The risk is price-performance, not existence. Also you can sell RI on marketplace. Try selling a dead lifetime deal.
