Bought domain at auction for $12, thought I got deal. Google still show old spam site with manual penalty. Cant rank at all. Checked search console, red warning everywhere. The previous owner used it for pharma stuff I think. I try new content, new host, still nothing. $12 down plus my time. Anyone receive this problem? How to fix without paying seo people a lot of money?

Larry has purchased a Domain with a History. The Search Engine Penalty is attached to the Domain, not the Content or the Hosting. Please to file a Reconsideration Request in the Search Console. Please to include Documentation of the Ownership Change and the new Purpose of the Website.

This. I had one take almost 5 months. The reconsideration queue is not FIFO, it's random lottery basically.
Also larryjeong you should check if the domain is on any blocklists beyond Google. MXToolbox, Spamhaus. Old pharma domains get around.

5 month?? Bro I dont have that time. My project is dead by then. Anyone try just abandon and buy new domain?
Abandon is the smart move here. $12 is a rounding error. I've got domains I paid $8 for that I never used, they're just lines in my Porkbun dashboard now.
Google's penalty system is opaque by design. You are not negotiating with a human.

In France we have LWS and OVH for cheap domains, but the real cost is the time. Larry, how many hours you already spend? Multiply by your hourly rate, the $12 is nothing.

The Abandonment is also a Valid Strategy. Please to consider that the Domain Age begins at Zero for Google Purposes after a successful Reconsideration anyway. You lose the perceived Benefit of the Auction Domain.
