Asymmetric routing is the #1 reason people panic at traceroutes. Your return path != forward path. Those asterisks? Usually ICMP rate limits, not packet loss. Modern routers deprioritize ICMP to the control plane.

Is cPanel pricing pushing anyone else to DirectAdmin? · General Discussion

Before you migrate, check your resolver. CPanel and DirectAdmin handle DNS differently.

  • cPanel writes to /etc/named.conf with cluster sync
  • DirectAdmin uses its own zone parser

TTL on your SOA matters. Lower it to 300 before you start. Propagation will still happen, but...
