Poll: What's your notification setup for deal drops?

We have been refining our internal monitoring and I am curious how the broader community handles this. Do you rely on Telegram bots, RSS feeds, browser extensions, or something more bespoke? I am particularly interested in solutions that avoid excessive API polling, as we find rate limits can be frustrating during high-volume release windows.

What works for you, and what have you abandoned?

Peering

BGP + telegram bot. Cfg in python. v4 only for alerts, v6 for mgmt. Rt table filters noise. Fw blocks the bad stuff. Tier-1 setup no transit here

I check manually like 20 times a day gg

No bot no rss just raw f5 energy yikes

RSS over Telegram bot saves bandwidth. Simple python script on old phone. Works fine. You use pushover or something else for urgent?

It actually works

Scrapes three providers, dedupes, pushes to phone. Whole thing runs on 128MB.

- url: example.com/deals
- interval: 300s
- filter: price < $20/yr

Costs me nothing, learns me plenty

works on my bench ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Manual checking seems inefficient for Asia-Pacific drops. I use a simple RSS reader with filtering. Many deals here release during hours when I am asleep. Automation feels necessary rather than optional.

I tried the bot thing once and it broke and I never fixed it and now I just have seventeen telegram channels muted and one that isnt and I check that one when I remember and somehow I still miss the good stuff every single time and my friend says I have a problem but I say the problem is the deals are too good and too fast and we all just live like this now dont we

BGP for deal alerts? That is absolutely unhinged ned. Respect

Manual checking twenty times daily sounds like a fast track to burnout.

The muted channel graveyard is too real. I have eleven.
