What do you use for comparing real server specs behind marketing names?
Contabo "Turbo" in their St. Louis DC gave me E5-2683v4 not v4. Close but not the same TDP. lscpu caught it. Their spec page just says "Intel Xeon" now, no generation.

Four servers in Bangkok, all cheap. I run sysbench cpu and memory before I keep anything past the first month. One provider's "Pro" was Atom C3558. Another's "Standard" was E3-1230v6. The names are random. Only the benchmark matters. I use https://bench.sh for that.
In Barcelona I use Hetzner for most things now. They list EXACTLY the CPU. No "Turbo" no "Power" just AMD EPYC 7702 or whatever it is. The price is the price. I left OVHcloud because I got tired of guessing.
This. Hetzner's auction site tells you the generation and even the individual benchmark score for that exact node. No marketing fog.
Hetzner is fine if you want a German or Finnish IP. Not everyone does.
In Osaka I need Asia latency. GreenCloudVPS Tokyo or Contabo Singapore are my options for cheap. I run UnixBench before I commit to annual. The "Elite" vs "Pro" thing is real, same hardware different price, I confirmed with lscpu on both.

I want to migrate to selfhost this year but while I rent I use the provider's own benchmark page. If they hide the CPU model I open ticket and ask. If they do not answer I do not buy. Simple.
