Following. I have a half-finished WireGuard mesh manager that I rewrite in a new language every year. 2020 was Python, 2021 Rust, 2022 Go, 2023 back to Python because I forgot what the Rust version did. It currently generates configs for 3 of 7 nodes and I SSH to the rest.
What are you working on that you'll never finish?

This is the full cycle. I have done this with a deployment tool. The Polish word for this is "dochodzenie do tego samego miejsca ale zmęczonym." There is no shorter word because we do not optimize for this feeling.
My actual unfinished thing: documenting our German company's network in a single source of truth. Started 2020. I have four Confluence pages, a wiki, a GitLab repo, and a napkin. None match. The napkin is most current.

This thread is my autobiography. I have a home automation system that controls one light. The light is in a closet I never open. The other 23 planned nodes are in a Tupperware labeled "HA 2022." I tell guests it's a network upgrade kit.
Same here with a custom mechanical keyboard firmware. 2020. It types. The layer I designed for CAD macros has never been programmed. I still use the default QMK layout with my custom PCB. The LEDs cycle rainbow because I never learned the PWM curves I wanted. It is very fast at being generic.

Carl you in Chicago? I got mine from a Georgia Power surplus auction in 2021. Same dream, 48V rack. Mine made it as far as a plywood shelf and one working outlet. The rectifiers hum. I mean, they sing. 60Hz plus harmonics. My wife asked if I was running a datacenter or a church. I said both. She made me move it to the basement.
Still there. Still humming. I check it monthly like a houseplant that will not grow.

Chicago area has ComEd surplus but it's mostly transformers bigger than my car. I found the Flatpack2s through a telco recycler in Indiana. Drove there with a van that had a broken AC in July. The rectifiers were the cool part of that trip, literally.
The humming is real. Mine do it on AC input, even with no load. I was going to build an acoustic enclosure. Another footprint, unpopulated.

German basement, so no humidity control, just concrete and hope. I tried to build a temperature logger for mine using ESPHome. The ESP32 works. The Grafana dashboard exists. The sensor is still in the shipping bag from LCSC because I ordered the wrong footprint and reordered and the second order is... somewhere. Since 2022. The dashboard shows "no data" beautifully.

I host for people who ask me at parties and then I never finish the thing they asked for. 2021: friend wanted a wedding photo gallery. I have the VPS, the domain, a Nextcloud instance that works for everything else. The gallery is 47 symlinks to an import folder I never imported. They divorced. The symlinks remain. Zagreb hosting: eternal, incomplete, slightly guilty.
