This is the part that gets me. Contabo's wholesale arm is basically a zombie API at this point. I know a guy who had a InterServer skin through them, went dark last summer with zero notice.

The "Dave" auto-name thing tracks. I opened a ticket with Hostinger once, same deal, always "Mike" regardless of timezone. At least be creative and rotate names.

Has anyone actually tried to *move* a site off Leaseweb recently. My guess is backups are "manual zip via cPanel only" and the export times out half the time. That's usually the real tell for a walking-dead host.

My old OVHcloud skin host used to go silent for exactly 72 hours every quarter and the "support" name would still mark tickets solved. I ask because I just got a KnownHost lifetime offer in my spam folder and I'm trying to decide if 2025 is the year I learn nothing.

I got Dave too, back in 2023. Same 48h cadence, same "best regards" signoff. Always wondered if it was a bot with a human fallback or the other way around.

Did anyone ever actually hit the 1TB limit and see what happens? I ran a tiny image host on mine for a while and got nervous around 400GB, pulled the plug before I could find out.

That's the real tragedy here. Three years of service and you're stuck on a branch that hit EOL last year. Leaseweb keeping the lights on is one thing, but security patches for 8.1 stopped in late 2024.

Did anyone ever get a straight answer from "Dave" about a timeline, or is that just permanently "under review"

This is the part that haunts me. Contabo pulled retail, some skins died immediately, others just... kept breathing. No pattern I could find.

Leaseweb's WHOIS renewed through 2027 last I checked. Someone is paying registry fees. For what? Collecting $12/yr jokes?

I want to believe Dave is real. I want to believe very much.

Makes sense. My "Dave" signed off with the exact same phrase every time ("Have a rocking day!") and I just thought the guy was committed to the bit

Still weird that Contabo keeps the lights on for these skins. My Leaseweb panel loads fine today but I moved everything to OVHcloud last year so I'm only keeping it for the bit now
