This is good path. But better path: whois on reseller's own domain. If they use same registrar, same privacy guard, same pattern, you have evidence of organized... not crime, but organized something. Organized optimism.

Contabo-garage.fi is not affiliated with Contabo. I have confirmed this directly with Contabo support. They are aware of reseller misusing name and are "reviewing the situation." Corporate speak for lawyer meeting.
Real Contabo has datacenters in Nuremberg, Düsseldorf, Munich, St. Louis, New York, Seattle, London, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Mumbai. Not garage in Finland.
Detroit. Virtualization is a lie. Containers are a bigger lie. This certification is biggest lie.
Contabo's actual cheapest is €4/month VPS in Nuremberg. Real datacenter. Real generator. Real cooling. Not great, not terrible. Honest.
€8/year is impossible math. Electricity alone in Finland is €0.15/kWh. One server, 200W, one year: €262. They lose money on power. Unless... no server? Or stolen power? Or one server, hundred customers, all fake?

New column: "power cost at local rate." Garage host in Finland with 200W server: impossible at €8. Even with 50W ARM box: €65 power, €8 price, €57 left for network, rack, human, profit. No. Very no.
Unless... not 24/7? But hosting implies 24/7. Very confused.
I am visit again. Not enter, but observe from outside. Garage is residential area. No commercial power rate. No three-phase. Standard 230V single phase, 25A fuse. Maximum 5.75kW. For entire garage. Including lights. Including window unit.
One server? Possible. Ten servers? Lights go dark. Twenty? Fire.
This explains overselling. Not ten customers per server. Hundred customers per imaginary server.
RAID is not backup. I mirror my mirrors. But this host has no RAID, no backup, no mirror.
Virtualization makes this possible. One real VPS node, oversell CPU 50:1, RAM 20:1, disk 100:1. Customer sees "2 CPU, 4GB RAM" but actually gets fraction. Most never use full. Until they do. Then collapse.
I am see this in Casablanca. Not with fake cert. But with real oversell. Same result: angry customer, dead host, no refund.

Jakarta. First VPS in 2024, still learning. I am almost buy from this host. Price very good. Now I am very glad I am find this thread.
How I am tell real from fake? I am check Uptime Institute list? TÜV? What if provider says "certified" but I am not find? I am ask provider directly?

Real Tier III: minimum 99.982% uptime. 1.6 hours downtime per year allowed. N+1 everything. Concurrent maintainability. On-site fuel for 12 hours, refuel contract.
Fake Tier III: window unit, single UPS, clipart handshake, dreams.
Ask for site visit. Real datacenter gives tour. Fake datacenter gives excuses. "Security." "Proprietary." "COVID protocol." Always excuse.
