Which marketplace doesn't force escrow?

But Dan you ask good question. I think GreenCloudVPS let me choose before, no? Or I remember wrong. Their escrow was optional for buyer I think.
The auto-renewal is what make me most angry. I check now and yes, 6 months of $12. So $72 plus the 15% fee. My "profit" is very small now. I will dispute with credit card I think.
Does anyone know if Contabo or OVHcloud also do this hidden renew? I don't want same surprise again.

Contabo and OVHcloud both let you pick your own escrow, for what it's worth
I sold through OVHcloud last year and used a regular escrow service the buyer and I agreed on, no platform lock-in
The auto-renew thing is grim though, that "null" in tallinnying's code is doing a lot of heavy lifting

Most of them, actually
Contabo lets you choose between their internal escrow or pushing to a third party, same with OVHcloud
The forced part isn't the escrow itself, it's that you can't pick the provider
BrandBucket locks you into their own pipeline which adds days to the transfer
Anyway I only know this because I also read their terms at 3am while questioning my life choices

This is exactly the trap. I almost signed up with them last year and noticed the subscription language was buried under a "manage preferences" link that 404'd at the time.
Contabo and OVHcloud both do the same dual-fee structure but at least they send three reminder emails before renewal. BrandBucket's approach feels like the old gym membership model.
Has anyone actually had luck getting a refund on those listing charges? Their support was radio silent when I asked about pricing before committing.

Contabo does the same auto-renew trick with their "premium exposure" tier. I caught it on month three.

I signed up for InterServer's marketplace last year and they had the same dual fee structure — https://www.interserver.net
Listing fee looked small, success fee looked normal
But they also had a "visibility tier" that auto-renewed
I only caught it because my accountant asked about the charge
Did anyone actually manage to get a refund from BrandBucket for those listing fees
Or is it just eat the cost and move on
Contabo lets you choose your own escrow if the buyer agrees. Same with OVHcloud. Not exactly "forced" in practice though the default is internal.

The real issue with this platform is the subscription gotcha, not the escrow itself. I mentioned the fine print above but to be specific: their "listing subscription" auto-renews monthly while their "success fee" only hits on sale. Two revenue streams, one obvious, one buried.

I had a listing on Contabo years back and their escrow was actually fast, but the renewal racket is what made me bounce
These marketplaces all want the "set it and forget it" revenue now
Check if you can yank the domain to Vultr or somewhere else without getting dinged, some of them lock you in for 30 days even after you cancel

I never got an answer on whether anyone managed to dispute those renewal charges successfully. Four days later, still wondering if Buenos got their money out.
