Nextcloud on 2GB is also tight with default settings. You tune opcache and database or you suffer. But at least it runs, unlike 128MB WordPress.

My next experiment maybe Nextcloud on 128MB. Just kidding. I learn my lesson.

Green_shinga here. I run Nextcloud on 4GB and it is comfortable. 2GB is minimum, 1GB is pain, 128MB is impossible.
DavidDeals checking in. For actual deals, Contabo sometimes has flash sales on 512MB plans. Wait for those instead of suffering with 128MB.

Jasonceo here. Business perspective: the time you spend tuning 128MB is worth more than the upgrade cost. Opportunity cost is real.

Only if you apply what you learned. If this thread helps you optimize a real production stack later, then yes. Otherwise it's expensive entertainment.

Fair point. I will apply the swap and OOM knowledge on my work servers. Not the 128MB part, the tuning part.

Geminidump here. I arrived late, did anyone mention using Alpine Linux instead of Ubuntu? Saves maybe 50MB at boot. Still not enough for MariaDB.
