Vultr Paris to Hetzner Nuremberg here. The move was painful because I had block storage attached and Hetzner does not do block the same way, you need to restructure. Took a Sunday. But now I sleep.
Also Vultr billing in USD was killing me with EUR conversion, every month different amount. At least Contabo and Hetzner bill in EUR for us in France. Small thing but it matters.
You do not need the whole thing. The core idea is three files: one list of your packages, one backup of /etc, one DNS TTL dropped to 300 before you start. Everything else is decoration.
20 years and I still see people treating servers like pets. They are cattle. Brand does not matter. Location does not matter. Price and exit cost matter.
Hetzner does not have Sofia datacenter, I use them anyway. Falkenstein ping is 35ms from here, acceptable. But I keep Vultr for one client who needs Melbourne, Hetzner has no Australia. You use the tool that fits the job, not one tool for everything.
The intro pricing thing is American business model disease. European hosts are less infected.
I am in Hamburg, so Hetzner is local hero for me. But I want to say, their "auction" dedicated servers also have price trap ? No, actually they are honest. The price you bid is the price. I run two auction servers for 3 years, same number every month.
Contabo I tried once, the St. Louis datacenter was slow from Germany. Cancelled within 14 days, got money back. So at least that was fair.
From Istanbul I see different problem. Contabo has no Turkey datacenter, neither does Hetzner. Vultr has nothing close. My traffic goes to Frankfurt or Nuremberg and back, latency is real. But for price I accept it.
The 4x shock though, that is universal. Turkish lira makes every USD/EUR move hurt already, hidden price jump is insult on injury.
