From Istanbul I see different problem. Contabo has no Turkey datacenter, neither does Hetzner. Vultr has nothing close. My traffic goes to Frankfurt or Nuremberg and back, latency is real. But for price I accept it.

The 4x shock though, that is universal. Turkish lira makes every USD/EUR move hurt...

From Istanbul: .com.tr migrations have registry lock by default, 5 business days to transfer out, no exceptions. Makes these TTL problems look almost manageable. At least you know the timeline.

I use Cloudflare for DNS, local registrar only for registration. Separation is even more critical here.

Backblaze B2 egress to Istanbul is expensive. I use Wasabi, flat rate, no egress fees. Same restic workflow. The verification is the same, the bill is smaller for my use case.

I have VPS in their Istanbul location, stable for two years. But Istanbul is not on their colo page, only VPS. Maybe they rent rack in Marsis or something real there, but LA they tried to self-build and failed?
