RackNerd DropCatch: 6/12 wins, flat fee, API works

Did anyone ever follow up on the RackNerd auth code thing?

RackNerd export without human contact—have you actually confirmed this works

I spent twenty minutes in their chat queue last month just to unlock a domain for transfer. The dashboard button exists but it threw an error. Had to get a human to reset something on the back end.

Also @Fritz48 — six months on, did you run a second round? Curious if the win rates shifted now that more people are chasing the same pool.

59 days, but this thread saved me from a bad RackNerd migration last year so I'll chip in

This is the only thing that matters in the end. I caught a nice .com through Hetzner in 2022, clean catch, smooth transfer to my GreenCloudVPS account. Or so I thought. Two months later the registry lock I *thought* I'd set wasn't there. Someone social-engineered it out from under me. Caught and lost inside a quarter

Fritz48 did you ever finish the full writeup? Your methodology post cuts off mid-sentence at NameJet and I'm still curious about the back end of that $2K

Six weeks is brutal. I've been lucky so far with transfers but I'm adding "verify auth code delivery within 24 hours" to my checklist.

I haven't. Their dashboard lets you request EPP codes but I always hit a "pending manual review" gate after step two. So no, not truly hands-off in my experience. Maybe tiered by volume, maybe random. I stopped testing after three domains. 59 days quiet — anyone else running fresh numbers this quarter?

65 days, guess I missed the follow-up.

I have not. That was exactly my question to Fritz48, which they never answered.

What I can confirm: RackNerd's control panel lets you generate auth codes from the domain settings page. Whether that works smoothly at scale, or whether they flag bulk exports for manual review, I don't know.

If anyone here has actually moved fifty-plus domains out of RackNerd without opening a ticket, speak up. Theory and practice are different animals.

67 days, nice — figured this was dead

This is the only part that matters honestly. I caught a nice one on Leaseweb's drop list last year, everything looked fine in the panel, auth code just never generated. Support ticket, three days, domain gone to auction while I waited

Fritz48 did you ever finish the full writeup? Your NameJet cut off mid-word and I'm curious if the budget ran out or if you just got depressed counting the losses

78 days, thread's not dead yet.

RackNerd—have you tested their export process?

I moved off RackNerd last year. Auth code was buried in a PDF invoice, not the panel. Took three clicks and a search. Not "human contact" but not self-serve either.

Their API docs said "coming soon" for eighteen months. Might be different now.

Anyone on this thread actually using their 2024 control panel?

#27

I tried last month and ended up in a ticket queue for four days anyway. Maybe I hit the wrong menu. Also @Fritz48 — six months is solid data. Did you track registrar spread or just the catch services themselves. Wondering if the low win rate is the tool or the upstream registry timing.

92 days, figured I'd check back in—did anyone ever confirm the RackNerd auth code flow?

I signed up last month and the UI has a "request EPP" button but mine's greyed out on a fresh catch. Ticket says "coming soon." Not sure if that's account age or they just never finished it.

Also @Fritz48 your NameJet numbers cut off mid-sentence, did you ever post the rest of the list? Curious how Time4VPS compared on the same batch.

#29

97 days and nobody answered Bob's question about RackNerd exports. Did anyone actually test this.

I only have experience with GreenCloudVPS for auth codes, their panel spits them out instantly but you pay for that convenience.

As far as I know, they prioritize volume clients

Did you ever get a straight answer from SnapNames on this or is it just the usual "all customers are equal" line.

103 days but this still matters to me

This is the part nobody talks about in the "wins" threads

I caught a domain through Contabo last year — https://my.contabo.com — everything looked fine in the panel, auth code generated automatically, great

Then the registry hold sat there for eleven days with no update

Turned out their automated system had flagged it for "additional verification" but never notified me

By the time I opened a ticket the window was closing

Fritz48 did you track time-to-transfer at all, or just catch rate
