Prepaid three years, host vanished in six months so I dropped $180 on a "lifetime" managed vps from GreenCloudVPS back in 2022 they seemed legit had actual support phone number and everything anyway six months later the site is just gone no email no nothing I checked company registration dissolved The worst part is I recommended them to my cousin he also bought lifetime $360 between us gone Anyway I was googling the owner name last week for small claims court and guess what he's selling crypto courses now "passive income mastery" the irony is not lost on me Stay away from lifetime deals this is your warning

Wesh carl... le server حلو in the beginning... incha'allah uptime was good... I am also buy from them... 2 year plan... not lifetime but still...

Le pire : the owner is now teaching "financial freedom" ... while we are here with no server and no money... French justice is slow... incha'allah I see him in tribunal...

The crypto course... I am find it also... 997€ for "mentorship"... same price as 3 year hosting... Coincidence ? I am think not...

The lifetime math never works... someone did the calculation in 2019... server cost per year... times three... minus "lifetime" price... equals bankruptcy in 18 months... usually less... I am bookmark that thread... lost in another host migration... of course...

The crypto course twist... that is new... usually they just disappear... or rebrand... same server... new name... same "lifetime" offer... the circle continues...

The real issue is payment psychology. Three years upfront feels like commitment; to the provider, it's just a loan they'll never repay. When the math catches up, everyone loses except the owner pivoting to courses. I keep my terms to monthly now. The slight premium is worth the exit option.

C) prices too low for hardware claimed

I) ask pre-sales question
Ii) measure response time
C) never prepay more than 3 months

This is why I stopped trusting anything without a real datacenter I can point to on a map. My homelab started because a "local" host turned out to be a guy in his kitchen in Drammen. GreenCloudVPS at least had Singapore and Amsterdam listed, but dissolved registration explains why the hardware never felt close to either.

Portland small claims is $10k max and you can serve by certified mail. Did you get a judgment yet or still trying to locate assets? These crypto course guys usually structure everything through Stripe and PayPal so there's nothing to attach.

No judgment yet. The course is through Teachable and the hosting LLC was separate. Lawyer friend says even if I win, collecting from a dissolved Wyoming LLC is basically hobby-tier. The $180 is gone. I am treating it as tuition.
