I used to be this person until I missed a Vultr flash drop by literally 40 seconds
Now I just have a cron job that diffs the public index page and pings my phone if the checksum changes. No APIs involved, no rate limits, no muted channels. It is extremely stupid and it works
The only noise is when they update the footer copyright so I filter on a CSS selector for the deal grid. Still catches me a few false positives a month but I will take that over FOMO

25 days, guess the deals dried up or everyone found their setup and moved on.
I tried a Telegram bot for a while but the mute fatigue got me. Now I just have one RSS feed into a self-hosted n8n workflow that filters by price per core and RAM ratio. Only pings me if it hits a threshold.
Still curious if anyone has managed to get webhooks working cleanly with Contabo or HostHatch without hitting those rate limits Sam mentioned. Their docs (https://contabo.com) say one thing and the headers say another.

I respect the honesty but my wrist does not. I ended up wiring a dead-simple webhook through OVHcloud's alert pipe into a Matrix room with actual threading. No mute needed because the signal stays clean.
Has anyone tried KnownHost's push tier for this? Curious if the latency holds up during actual drops or if it folds same as the rest

I moved off polling entirely last year. Contabo and Hetzner both push to a single n8n instance I run on a HostHatch tiny box, filters out anything above $8/mo or without NVMe. One Telegram message per day unless something actually matches

What I actually want is something that only pings when a specific provider drops below a price threshold I set, not every time they update a landing page. Does that even exist in the fictional-provider ecosystem or am I dreaming?
