So my Contabo box dying at 3am was just coincidence? Route through Cogent to OVHcloud Gravelines, still dead at 3:05. Back now. Maybe not my cheap deal after all.
OVHcloud IX ghost BGP withdrawals - anyone else?
Cogent doesn't peer with OVHcloud directly in Europe, you're probably hitting Telia or Level3 transit. But if the route flapped, your mail queue might have deferred and retried from different source IP. Check your Postfix logs for 4xx around that window, Spamhaus PBL loves transient retries from VPS ranges.
Not the main issue. Just saying.
I have prefix at OVHcloud Warsaw. Same time, same ghost. My looking glass in Wrocław still saw me, HE.net saw me, but RouteViews and RIPE RIS both gone. 22 minutes.
OVHcloud ticket says "no incident reported" which is German for "we know and won't say yet." Their status page: https://status.ovhcloud.com
My IP is 139.99.x.x from OVHcloud Singapore. Still down lah. Ticket no answer 6 hours already. Maybe same problem or maybe not, I don't know BGP things.
But my friend in KL also cannot reach. So not just me.
Can confirm from Kuala Lumpur, 139.99.x.x range is unreachable since morning. Traceroute dies at SGIX, never reaches OVHcloud. Different issue from your BGP ghost maybe, but OVHcloud Singapore having problems too.
RouteViews collector in Lisbon still has OVHcloud routes from 03:00. But Lisbon peers directly with OVHcloud at GigaPix, not through OVHcloud IX. So this supports the "IX fabric to multihop" theory.
Agreed. Not your prefix, not your upstreams, not RouteViews. The IX route server stopped exporting to collector sessions.
Same at Casablanca but different path. My transits to OVHcloud went through Marseille, not OVHcloud IX. No drop. So it's isolated to the IX route server mesh, not OVHcloud backbone.
Also RAID is still not backup — https://www.borgbackup.org
Following this with interest. Glasgow here, no OVHcloud presence, but I buy transit from someone who does. My prefixes stayed visible, so the leak didn't propagate downstream. Good filter practice I guess.
OVHcloud has 30 days to report personal data breach to CNIL if this involved customer data crossing systems. Just noting. Probably not relevant. But I note it.
This is the confirmation I needed. Thank you.
Singapore is separate issue. 139.99.x.x is Kimsufi range, not OVHcloud IX. Kimsufi had maintenance window posted for SGP last night.
So we have two things: my ghost withdrawal at OVHcloud IX Europe, and Kimsufi Singapore maintenance. Not related.
