SES is the way. Or just webhook to Discord lol. But fr, IP warming is 30 days minimum even with clean IP, and you're not bulk enough to warm properly. Relay is the only sane path.
Outgoing SMTP blocked—residential IP reputation on VPS?
We had to whitelist individual IPs for our hospital mail gateway. Contabo ranges are basically auto-reject now. The whole ASN has that smell. No amount of rDNS fixes it.
This is not a lottery. A lottery has winners.
I manage a rack in Madrid and we had to abandon Contabo entirely for mail. Not their fault exactly, but the economics of cheap VPS means bad neighbors. Switched to Hetzner for mail-facing stuff, night and day. RDNS actually works there — https://www.hetzner.com/cloud
Hetzner price look good. But I already prepaid Contabo 1 year :( Migration cost is the hidden fee they don't advertise.
Sunk cost fallacy. You're paying in bounced cron reports and manual checking now. Calculate that time at whatever rate, Hetzner pays for itself in weeks.
This. I run Postfix on Hetzner Nuremberg, clean IP from day one, proper rDNS setup through their robot. No warming needed for my volume. Contabo is fine for web, not for mail origin.
Following. Same boat with Contabo Singapore.
OK I am convinced. But what about my APAC server, Hetzner only has Singapore right? My ping to Tokyo is better. Keep Contabo for web, move mail relay to SES? Or bite bullet and move both?
Hetzner Singapore is fine. I get 35ms from Bandung. But honestly for just cron reports, SES in ap-southeast-1 and call it done. Don't overthink infrastructure for 5 emails a day.
