One year since my last 'is it down' panic

Student in Bandung. I have 7 VPS across 5 providers and no sleep because I am always checking if they are up. This thread is my life. I use HostHatch Singapore primary, CloudCone LA backup, RackNerd for cheap storage, and four others I found on LowEndBox. My DNS is CloudFlare free because I cannot afford to care about the stack yet. Maybe next year.

Same here on the CloudFlare free tier. I have been running dual-stack on Contabo Nuremberg and Contabo Seattle for three years, DNS on CloudFlare, no issues. The v6 connectivity from Germany to the US is actually more reliable than v4 some days. Less congestion, fewer middleboxes.

Less congestion on v6 is real. The path is often shorter because the v4 internet is still dancing around CGNAT boxes and stateful inspection gear that treats v6 like an afterthought. I have traceroutes where v6 beats v4 by 15ms consistently.

This thread covered registrar redundancy, NIS2, PI space, and Oracle free tier DNS in 20 replies. The original post was about not panicking for a year. I think that answers itself.
