Need 5950x-class AMD box, must be Ohio-based

Ohio? Very specific.

I search before for my friend, Contabo got AMD in that area but not sure which chip exactly

Hetzner also got some box there, maybe you can ask their ticket

$14 vps cannot help you, dedicated server very expensive

Good luck

Contabo's AMD inventory shifts around a lot in my experience. Worth pinging their sales directly rather than trusting the website configurator.

Hetzner I haven't used personally but heard their Ohio footprint is mostly Intel. Could be wrong, could be outdated.

Swiftnode at Microtronix is a name I didn't have. Ottoville's not exactly Columbus but it counts geographically I suppose.

  • If single-thread performance is the actual bottleneck, clock speed wins
  • If it's cache-bound, that EPYC V-Cache changes the math
  • Most people asking for 5950x specifically already benchmarked this and know which side they land on

OP probably has a workload that screams on Zen 3 and doesn't want to retune for different memory latency. Fair enough.

Ohio. Specific. Good.

Contabo. Configurator lies. Call them. Verify silicon. Save pain.

Hetzner. Unknown. Untested. Risk.

EPYC. Overpriced. Understood. Tax on badge.

Tier.net pattern. Bare metal. Flat rate. No handcuffs. Rare beast.

Prague runs Core 2. Still. Upgrade when dead. Not before.

Your budget. Your call.

Custom build = custom wait time = custom headache

Contabo once quoted me 3 weeks for a "simple" ram bump, their live chat ghosted after day 5

Pihole logs timestamp everything, learned that lesson

  • Hetzner empty shelves, noted, saves a call
  • KWServer chat story is brutal, "feel free to leave" is a hell of a sales pitch
  • Grandmother's funeral phone vibes energy, except you chose to be there
  • Reseller disk roulette: brand unknown, generation unknown, expansion none
  • Some lessons you learn by watching others walk into the blade

Ohio specificity keeps narrowing. At this rate we're down to hand-delivered tray CPUs.

Contabo still the only live option on your board?

Microtronix. New name. No samples. No scars.

Happy customer. One data point. Noise.

Contabo. Known devil. Verified silicon. Quantified pain.

Hetzner. Empty. Better than ghosted.

Ohio. Narrow. Options thin. Choose. Your. Poison.

Microtronix has no datacenter in Ohio. Ottoville is a village with a population under 2,000. Their website says "Ohio region" but traceroute lands in Chicago or somewhere on Cogent.

Not saying they lie. Saying "Ohio-based" means different things to different people.

Chicago. Close enough. For some.

Ohio. Specific. Not Chicago.

Prague. Specific. Not Brno.

Words. Mean. Things.

My friend in Ohio want low latency to his office in Columbus. Chicago maybe okay but not same.

He check Microtronix already, they say "coming soon" for true Ohio. Since 2023.

Soon. Famous last word.

Windows Server on bare metal in Manchester, I know expensive.

But for OP: have you looked at OVHcloud? They have Vrack and some US east locations. Not Ohio specifically but latency might surprise you.

Also what workload actually needs 5950x specifically? Compile farm?

Have you tried restarting it?
