That model has WiFi though. You're choosing not to use it, which is different from not needing it. The Forerunner 245 Music doesn't have WiFi at all, that's the distinction I was making.

I'm on Freedom Mobile in Canada and my data is so cheap I didn't even know roaming caps were still a thing people worried about. Is this an EU-specific pain point?

Roam Like At Home is EU regulation. The fair use policy allows operators to apply surcharges once you exceed thresholds based on domestic plan cost. My domestic plan is modest. Hence the optimisation.
Following this thread because I travel to Brussels monthly and never considered the roaming angle. I just eat the charges like an idiot.
