Amsterdam fire survivor here. KnownHost rack gone.
Virtualization tax paid in full — our KVM guests migrated to RackNerd within 4 hours because we had replicated disks offsite. OpenVZ neighbors weren't so lucky. Container limits don't matter when the physical host is charcoal.
Anyone else get actual data back? Or just "we'll credit your account"?

Which providers take XMR for disaster recovery? Seriously asking. After this I'm spreading across jurisdictions. Privacy coins mean nothing if the data center is literally on fire.
KnownHost still doesn't take anything but Stripe. Learned my lesson.

Source engine community lost our entire tournament archive. 2007 through 2019. Tickrate demos, server configs, forum backups all on one "redundant" KnownHost server in Amsterdam.
Kids play valorant now. They don't know what 100tick meant to us. That community's dead twice over.

Did you test your restore? Even once?
3-2-1 rule exists because buildings burn. Disks fail. Companies disappear.
I keep hearing "we had RAID" or "they said it was redundant." RAID is not backup. Redundant feeds don't matter when the fire takes the whole building.
Who here actually tested a full restore this year?

I rent a managed VPS with them. Their Amsterdam datacenter runs redundant feeds, N+1 cooling, enterprise-grade fire suppression. Their enterprise-grade facilities would never experience this class of incident.
