Standby works for many Supermicro boards, but the X10 generation is inconsistent. Some BMCs keep enough state on standby that the reset doesn't latch. Full AC disconnect removes that ambiguity.
Also worth noting: if you have a redundant PSU, disconnect both.

If the jumper doesn't work there's a nuclear option. You can pull the BMC flash chip and reprogram it with a CH341A programmer. Done it on a X9 that had the same problem, seller had set a password then forgot it. Took an hour, cost me $12 for the programmer on Amazon.
But try the jumper first obviously.

Following this thread, got an X10 in my garage with the same story. EBay special, password unknown.

JPB1 worked. Pins 2-3, counted to ten, back to 1-2. IPMI came up admin/admin on next boot.

Lou1 which variant was it though, -F or -T? Curious if there's any difference in BMC behavior.

-F. IPMI 2.0, firmware was pretty old, like 2016 or something. Updated it after I got in.
Old IPMI firmware on these boards is a security nightmare btw. CVEs for days. If you're exposing it to the internet at all, update before you do anything else.

I have the same board for my association. The JPB1 is near the SATA ports yes, but on my X10DRi-F it was hidden under a cable I had routed. Took me 20 minutes to find it with a flashlight.
Also in France we have very expensive electricity now, so I am happy to not brick the board and have to buy another.
