Was doing some BGP labbing on a cheap GreenCloudVPS VM last month. Announced a few prefixes to test filtering. Got a C&D yesterday from "IP Integrity Enforcement LLC" demanding I stop announcing RFC1918 and bogon space.
Thing is I only announced to their looking glass for like 20 minutes. Never transited anywhere. Their letter claims damages and threatens suit.
yabs.sh output from the VM in question:
---------------------------------------
Processor : AMD EPYC 7402P 24-Core
Disk : 1.1 GB/s read, 890 MB/s write
Network : 2.1 Gbps up / 1.8 Gbps down
Location : supposedly AMS, actually routed via FRA
---------------------------------------
decent disk IO, meh network
Anyone dealt with this? Letter looks semi-legit but the damages figure is absurd. $50K for twenty minutes of internal announcements.
fio, iperf, geekbench. results or gtfo.

@techmei is right! I sent ticket yesterday to GreenCloudVPS about a similar pattern—they have an automated compliance system that sends these letters. Not a real law firm at all!
Made test order with them last year and got the same template. If you check the headers, the "law firm" domain resolves to their own mail servers. Very misleading but technically not illegal in their jurisdiction, apparently!
Reply with a simple cease of your own and they close the case. No follow-up ever. I have helped three people with this exact letter now!
Cheers!
