How many hosts have you used in five years?

Following. Currently on Hostinger but thread making me nervous.

Hostinger is fine for small. I had 2 years no problem. Then I grew.

Their VPS panel is custom, not standard. When you need to migrate 50 sites, custom panel is enemy.

This is why I moved to Vultr + RunCloud. Standard. Boring. Works.

Has anyone used the Vultr block storage? I need 500GB for Nextcloud but the VPS price + storage seems worse than just getting a bigger Contabo plan.

Contabo 8GB with 200GB SSD is 8 EUR. Vultr 4GB with 500GB block is 24 + 50 = 74 USD. Math is clear?

Your math is wrong. Vultr block storage is 0.10/GB/month. 500GB is 50. But you don't need block, you need object.

Nextcloud works with S3. Vultr object storage is 5/TB/month. 500GB is 2.50.

Different product, right price.

Did not know Vultr had object storage. Will check.

Still, Contabo 8 EUR with 200GB included, no extra config. Sometimes simple wins.

I am at 5 hosts. Learned: never prepay yearly for new host. Monthly first, see if they survive 3 months.

Lost 80 to a host that died in month 4. Name was something-animal, I forget. Many of them are something-animal.

This is rule. But Black Friday deals are yearly only. So I buy small plan yearly, test with real project. If bad, I lose 10 not 100.

Turkey lira makes every USD painful. I must optimize.

How do you all manage DNS when changing hosts so much? I have 3 hosts now and DNS is already mess.

Using Cloudflare but still, propagation delay, SSL certs, mail records. Every migration is 2 days of DNS hell.
