How do you tell a client their $5/month thing needs $50/month?

Got a legacy reseller client on a 512MB OVZ box from 2019. Their "simple WordPress site" now runs WooCommerce with 200 products and they complain about timeouts. I checked their actual usage and they need dedicated CPU, more RAM, and honestly a proper database server.

Prices only go up. A /24 will cost you a kidney. But this client still thinks hosting should cost less than a sandwich.

How do you have this talk without them leaving for some unlimited-crap host that'll crash in three months?

/24 for sale. No lowballs.

`infra` doesn't scale on hopes and dreams. `ship it`

You show them `metrics`. Grafana dashboard. CPU throttling. `oom-kills`. Not your opinion, `data`.

If they balk, `deploy to cluster` elsewhere. Your `k8s` node costs what it costs.

Dig +short their current provider's NS records and check the TTL while you're at it.

They probably set 86400 back in 2019 because someone said "caching is good." Now when you migrate it'll take a day to propagate, and they'll blame you for downtime during the conversation.

Check your resolver first. traceroute to their origin shows packet loss at the third hop, not your problem but they'll make it yours.
