Risk-appropriate

This is the correct framework. I have a $200/month production stack on AWS for work. I have a $2.50 HostSlick for a side project that earns zero dollars.

The side project can be down for a week and nobody calls me at 3am. Match your infrastructure to your sleep requirements.

New here. Is HostSlick related to HostSlack? I used HostSlack in 2019 and they disappeared with my $15 annual payment.

Similar names worry me.

No. HostSlack was a separate failed host. HostSlick has been around since 2020 at least, US-based originally.

But your instinct is correct: cheap host sector has high mortality. Check LowEndBox archives before any annual payment.

For a restaurant website: bad choice. You need reliability more than price. Customers visit at lunch and dinner. If site is down, they eat elsewhere.

Use Cloudflare Pages or similar free static host. Or pay $5 for proper shared hosting with support. HostSlick has no support worth the name.

Mi amigo, for restaurant you need local hosting or CDN. Vietnam ISPs peer badly with EU. Your uncle's customers wait 3 seconds for page load, they close tab, they eat pho somewhere else.

HostSlick EU is wrong geography for Vietnam audience.

Can we return to the original question? Is the deal worth it?

Consensus appears to be: worth it for disposable workloads, not worth it for anything requiring accountability. The 12-month lock-in is the real cost, not the €2.50.

I started this thread and I agree with that summary. I did not pre-order. I bought a quarterly Hetzner instead.

Thanks all. Useful thread.
