This thread is making me audit everything. I have 3 RackNerd boxes in different DCs for VLAN endpoints, never thought to check if they degrade. Setting up iperf3 cron now.

Just speedtest-cli in cron, output to csv, gnuplot when I feel fancy. Nothing special. The trick is doing it for 6 months without forgetting why you started.

I can paste the script if anyone wants. Its 12 lines and 2 of them are comments I wrote while sleep deprived

Classic. "Optimization" is the new "up to." I've started logging support response semantics too. RackNerd: 73% of tickets get a deflection phrase in first reply. GreenCloudVPS: 31%. HostHatch: 19%.

Small sample, 50 tickets each over 18 months. But the pattern is clear.

436 days. reboot is surrender.

Left RackNerd for HostHatch Madrid last year. Same price tier, actual Madrid DC not "Europe" somewhere. Latency to my Manchester office dropped 18ms. No throttling detected in 11 months but I don't run the kind of tests uma does.

This. They segment you into the "too lazy to leave" bucket and shave your bandwidth till you notice. By then youre 14 months in and theyve got your annual payment. Its not a bug its a business model dressed in support-ticket politeness

Also Madrid here. Been on RackNerd Amsterdam since 2022, never noticed speed drop but I don't monitor. Will check tonight. If this is real I'm annoyed because I recommended them to clients.

GreenCloudVPS Amsterdam user here, 8 months. No complaints but also no rigorous data. Their storage VPS pricing is weirdly good for bulk backups, 500GB tier. Network to Belgium is fine, 3ms.

Not leaving RackNerd because I never joined them. This thread confirms that was luck not wisdom.

HostHatch Madrid works well for South America traffic. Better than RackNerd Amsterdam which routes everything through Miami or Frankfurt for us. Buenos Aires to HostHatch Madrid: 210ms. To RackNerd Amsterdam: 280ms via Miami.

Price is higher though. You pay for the routing.

Marseille here. I care about one thing: does my backup finish before the next one starts. RackNerd Amsterdam was fine for this until month 10, then rsync times doubled. Moved to GreenCloudVPS Amsterdam, back to normal. No data, just observed behavior. This thread explains it.

What counts as deflection? "Network optimization varies by node utilization" definitely. What else?
