Finally used up all my impulse-bought Contabo credits

- four years ago, Contabo ran a "triple your deposit" promo
- I deposited €100. Received $300 in non-refundable credits.
- terms: credits expire in 365 days unless renewed by new purchase
- I did not read this clause until month two.
- survival strategy: smallest possible vps renewals to extend clock.
- current status: balance $0.00 as of 14:37 utc today.
- lessons learned:
- promotional credit is a liability, not an asset
- Contabo's control panel lacks bulk expiration export
- I maintained seventeen separate vps instances for no operational reason
- total compute wasted: approximately 4.2 vcpu-years on idle debian templates

No regrets. Process complete.

---
- Contabo credit traps:
- 2023: €50 "birthday" credit, expired untouched
- 2024: €120 OVHcloud migration credit, expired
- 2025: €75 Vultr "loyalty" credit, expired
- NOTE: I track in spreadsheet now
- WARNING: some hosts reset expiration on any purchase, others do not

- @tinaworm
- did you ever try credit resale forums
- or was Contabo account-bound strictly
---
- current hoard: €23 valid, $198 expired, $0 recovered
