Contabo did a €3.50 monthly
To be fair that was VPS not VDS, and the storage was NVMe only on paper. But yeah watching cheaper deals go by while locked in hurts. I'm on Contabo monthly VDS now actually, no complaints for the price.

I'm sorry, what's a /48? Is that like a subnet? I just need my bakery site to load fast. Should I be doing annual or monthly? I'm on shared hosting now.

frames, tables, still valid HTML

Stay on shared hosting until you outgrow it. When you do, start monthly. You don't have BGP tables or colo pallets to worry about. The freedom matters less when migration is "export WordPress, import WordPress."

Following this thread closely. Currently annual with a dedicated at a small German host, contract ends March. Leaning OVHcloud or Hetzner monthly after reading this. The X12SDV looks like the sweet spot for my use case.

It's IPv6 address space, about 65,000 subnets. Carl uses it because he runs his own network. For a bakery site, don't worry about it. Your shared host handles all that. This thread went way off the rails from your question, sorry.
