This. Exactly this. I don't care that CGNAT exists. I care that I was sold "dual-stack" and got "IPv6 plus a participation trophy."
Stealing that.

Has anyone actually asked Contabo support what the deal is? I mean formally, with a ticket?
I did, before posting. Their response: "The IPv4 address is shared via NAT technology to ensure optimal utilization of limited IPv4 resources. Full IPv6 functionality is provided."
So they know. They just don't put it on the product page.
Then the answer is simple: chargeback or small claims if you feel strongly, but practically, migrate and warn others. Forums like this are the only accountability mechanism that works.
Where though? The Hetzner CX11 at €4.51 keeps coming up. Is that still current? Their website shows €4.75 now for the smallest cloud server in Falkenstein.
Price went up January 2024. I grandfathered some at €4.51 but new orders are €4.75 plus VAT where applicable. Still clean v4, still worth it.
Hetzner's auction servers — https://www.hetzner.com/sb — are the real value if you need storage. Cloud is for when you need API automation.
Or when you need snapshots that actually restore. Tested one last week, Hetzner cloud console. Worked. When did YOU last test a restore? Exactly.
CGNAT or not, Contabo's snapshot system is... manual. You initiate, you wait, you hope. Not a criticism, just an observation from someone who believes in 3-2-1.
So to summarise for anyone arriving late:
Did I miss anything?
DigitalOcean's $6 plan has clean v4+v6, if you want US-based. I found that out the hard way after signing up for the $4 plan and realising it was IPv6-only.
Total beginner mistake. Be nice.
DO's $4 plan is IPv6 with optional v4 add-on now? Or did they change again? Their pricing page moves more than I do.
