Vultr is KVM then, their $5/mo plan. That's $60/yr, still way less than $89. I feel better now.
Astro03 here. RackNerd has $10.18/yr for 1GB right now if you catch the LET deals. 2GB usually $18-22/yr on holidays. Not always in stock though, you have to watch.
Contabo's problem is they made the old price impossible. RackNerd just makes it annoying to find. Different philosophy.
Manish27, Bangalore. Contabo has Mumbai DC now, I tried it. Network to domestic ISPs is actually worse than Singapore DC, routes through Europe half the time. Typical Contabo.
I moved to Vultr Bangalore, $6/mo but latency to ACT Fibernet is 8ms. Worth it for production. For toy projects, nothing beats the old Contabo price, RIP.

IPv4 angle: Contabo includes one IPv4, OVHcloud VPS Starter too. RackNerd and HostHatch often charge extra or give only IPv6 on the cheapest plans. Factor that in when comparing.
Zurich1984 watching the market. A /32 in RIPE region hit €45 last month. The "free" IPv4 in your $89 is maybe €15-20 of value now. Still doesn't justify the jump, but it's not zero.
Paulbox. Does anyone know if Contabo's storage VPS also jumped? I have 400GB storage VPS at old price, scared to open the panel now.
Storage VPS was always separate line. I had one too, 400GB for €60/yr or something stupid cheap. Cancelled it last year when I saw the writing on the wall. General advice: if the price looks like a typo in your favor, screenshot the terms and prep to move.
My exit strategy: RackNerd LA for low-traffic stuff, Vultr Miami for anything latency-sensitive. Spreadsheet updated, Q3 2025 best deals locked in.
