Blu93 checking in. No cert, 5 years hosting experience, just got promoted to senior. Certs are not everything. But I am doing LPIC-1 now because I want to be able to leave this company if needed. The cert is exit strategy, not career advancement.

This is the realest thing in this thread. I got my RHCSA after a layoff. Took 4 months. Applied to 30 jobs. The cert did not get me hired. The cert got me past the ATS so a human saw my experience.
The experience got me hired. The cert got me the interview. Both matter.
What about SUSE cert? I see some European hosting companies using SLES.

In Spain I don't see SUSE in hosting. Only in some big companies with legacy systems. For web hosting it's rare. Not worth it unless you have a specific employer asking for it.
RHCSA or LPIC. Nothing else.

Miller794 here. Late to thread but: has anyone mentioned that LPIC-1 is two exams? 101 and 102. You can take them separately. RHCSA is one long exam. If you are nervous about testing, LPIC lets you split the pressure.
I failed 101 first time. Passed second time. Would have been more expensive if RHCSA single-exam format.
Alpha17. Reading all this. My take: the best cert is the one you finish. I have started RHCSA prep three times. Never scheduled the exam. Analysis paralysis. Just pick one and do it.
Harrymagic. Agree with Alpha17. I started with LPIC-1 because it felt achievable. Passed both exams in 4 months. Confidence from that carried me to RHCSA 8 months later. Sequential, not parallel. One step at a time.
Now I have both and a job I like. The journey matters more than which path you pick.
